U15 Girls - Champions of Cincinnati West!

OK - first, a little backstory...

This team was put together late in the game. In November, we had 7 or 8 people committed to the team. I didn't even have a coach yet and we put together an indoor team. A parent volunteered to help out with that and helped do a bit of recruiting. I talked to an asst coach on our U14 girls team about being the head coach of this team. He was hesitant at first, but I think his friend (and the head coach of the U14 team) talked him into it. We were still at about 12 players, then one girl dropped because she didn't think we'd end up with enough players.

Finally, we got a bunch of interest when an older team decided to fold. My stepdaughter's friend was on the team, so I told her about our team and she passed along the information. We decided to hold tryouts and ended up with a great turnout - 19 girls came out and we ended up with 17 on the roster. There were three or four distinct groups on the team - you could see them split up that way at the tryouts - and I was just hoping that the girls would get along and learn to play soccer just a little bit better along the way. I didn't really imagine this:

Champions of the U15 Cincinnati West Soccer Tournament!!!

It's a testament to the quality of the players, the hard work they've put in, the coaching job done by Coaches Kraus, Cagle & Gish, and the training done by our crew (principally Eric Busener, I believe) that the team is having as much success as they are. This is a first year team that has played maybe 10 games together, and they're playing great team soccer.

From everyone here at NKSA - we couldn't be prouder of your efforts and are sure that the best is yet to come!

And for Tori - best wishes for a quick recovery and return.
