Keeper Training - Minor Changes for 3/27
Wow – we had nearly 50 kids show up for keeper training last week. What a fantastic turnout. Let’s hope we’re able to keep these numbers up going thru the season.
In order to better accommodate the kids that we had showing up for training this past week, we’re going to slightly modify the GK training sessions.
From 5:30-6:30pm we will be split into two groups:
HS aged keepers (typically U15-U19) – will be their own group and I’ll do their training
U12-U14 keepers will be their own group and will be trained by Coach Cheeseman
Please note – U12 keepers should now come to the early session
From 6:30-7:30pm Coach Cheeseman will train the U11 and younger keepers
Hopefully, by separating out the oldest keepers into their own group, and by moving the U12 keepers up to the earlier bracket, we will be able to give everyone better, more age appropriate training and more individualized instruction.

Congratulations!!

We are very proud to announce that the NKSA Mustangs U-11 Girls team are the 2009 Middletown Spring Blast Champions!!!
The team went a perfect 4-0 over the weekend, winning the title on penalty kicks in the championship match. Along the way, the Mustangs outscored their opponents 17-3.

In other tournament news this past weekend, the NKSA Revolution U-15 Boys team brought home the runners-up trophy at the Spring Blast, falling just short of championship gold in a 1-0 decision. They finished the weekend 2-1-1 and their coach is very proud of the effort they put forth.
The NKSA Blast U-12 girls traveled to Indianapolis to take on some top flight regional squads at the Dynamo Round Robin and came away with an impressive 2-2 record. The team finished 3rd out of the 6 teams in the tournament, and gained some solid experience against some very good clubs.
NKSA U-14 girls fought hard in a very evenly matched bracket at the Spring Blast, posting a 1-2 record. All three games were decided by one goal, and we're sure the girls will learn from these games and apply those lessons going forward into the season.
NKSA U-15 Boys premier team traveled to Lexington and faced off against 3 of the top teams in the state of Kentucky. Although they weren't able to pull out a victory, they fought hard and will also look to learn from their efforts and build towards a more succesful future.
We're very proud of our teams effort this past weekend, and look forward to even more success stories in the next few weeks!!

Middletown Spring Blast - March 21-22
We have three teams competing next weekend in the Middletown Spring Blast - Joe Kim's U11 Girls (Mustangs), Matt Walls' U14 Girls (94 Girls Red), and Rob Vertrees' U15 Boys (93 Boys - Revolution).
Here are the schedules for everyone:

The U11 Girls Championship game will be Sunday at 2:30pm on Field 18
The U14 Girls Championship game will be Sunday at 2:30pm on Field 13
The U15 Boys Championship game will be Sunday at 2:30pm on Field 5
All of our games are at Smith Park - Directions can be found at the following link:
It's about an hour and fifteen minutes (1:15) to get there from Pioneer Park so plan accordingly. Also, coaches need to make sure they go to the registration meeting next Friday night at the Kingdom Sports Center in Franklin OH. Directions can be found at the following link:
Finally, anytime one of our teams travels out of state (even into Ohio) for a tournament, you have to complete an out of state travel form and take it with you to registration. The "Permission to Travel" form can be filled out here:
Good luck next weekend!
Preliminary Training Schedule (updated 3/10)
This is pretty much final at this point - there are a couple of teams that have requested changes so I'm working on getting those ironed out. Let me know if you have questions or concerns.

We did our absolute best to accomodate everyone's requested times. Three factors go in to the training schedule: (1) Your Requests, (2) Field Space Available and (3) Trainers Available. Sometimes number (1) had to be sacrificed because of either (2) and/or (3).
Also - beginning 3/9 and continuing thru March - the early training sessions will run from 5:15pm to 6:30pm and the late sessions will begin at 6:30pm and run until dark. Once April rolls around (or daylight carries on to 8:15pm), we'll adjust to full 90 minute training sessions.
Finally, please remember that this is the place to check for field closings in the event of inclement weather. There will be a separate blog post that gets updated daily.
